Abies are evergreen conifers, that can grow very tall. Whorled branches bearing flattened, linear leaves with a whiteish underneath, produce large cones on the upper tiers. With a conical crown, the handsome Nordmann Fir can reach up to 30m plus. The down-swept branches are a rich, glossy forest green. Younger trees will grow slowly while older ones will speed up their growth rate. Ideal for use as a Christmas tree as it will retain its needles even when cut. Grow in rich, well drained soil positioned in full sun.
