A striking and vibrant specimen, 'Charlie Boy' has a strong stem which becomes more noticeable as the plant ages. As the new growth is produced at the top of the stem, some of the lower leaves are shed. As it matures a clear stem with a top-knot of colourful, strap-shaped foliage is formed. Location: Plant in full sun to partial shade in moist, well-drained soil. Care: In frost-prone areas it's best grown inside a cool greenhouse or conservatory. In time, container-grown specimens will need to be replanted in the garden. Approx. Height x Spread (m): 3x1 after 10-20 years.
Site & Soil: Grow in well-drained soil in a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade.
Hardiness: Hardy through most of the UK. May not withstand open or exposed sites. Potted plants at an increased risk of damage without protection.
