Malus are small to medium-sized deciduous trees with showy flowers in spring and ornamental or edible fruit in autumn. ‘Elstar’ produces heavy crops of yellow to green fruit that is flushed vibrantly with red. Its flavour is equally as intense as its colour, and has a sweet hint of honey. Plant in full sun for best crop, in well-drained soil.
