Malus are small to medium-sized deciduous trees with showy flowers in spring and ornamental or edible fruit in autumn. A hardy tree, ‘James Grieve’ is well-suited to damp and cold conditions. It produces regular crops of yellow apples freckled with red and striped orange. Its flesh is crisp and savoury. Plant in full sun to partial shade in well-drained soil.
