Photinia can be evergreen or deciduous shrubs or trees, with simple leaves and panicles of small white flowers, usually followed by red berries. A vibrant variant, ‘Carre Rouge’ has a more compact habit than that of other Photinias. Its foliage is smaller and especially saturated red when young. Plant in well-drained, moist soil and prune in regular intervals to keep in shape.
