Prunus can be deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs with showy flowers in spring, and often good autumn foliage colour. Some have edible fruit in autumn, and a few species have ornamental bark. ‘Stella’ is a cherry tree known for its top-notch, sweet fruits. It produces heavy, regular crops of round, glossy wine-red cherries from late July. Plant in a sheltered, sunny site in well-drained soil. Prune as little as possible.
