Prunus can be deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs with showy flowers in spring, and often good autumn foliage colour. Some have edible fruit in autumn, and a few species have ornamental bark. ‘Damson’ is a heavy cropping, easy to harvest plum that produces deep purple fruits that are best used for cooking, canning, preserving or for other culinary purposes. Plant in full sun in a well-drained sandy or loamy soil. Requires shelter.
