Quercus can be deciduous or evergreen trees or shrubs, with inconspicuous flowers, followed by characteristic acorns. Known for its coastal resiliance, the Holm Oak prefers well-drained soil in the full sun. It can be grown as a mighty tree or as a formal hedge. The foliage can also be trained into topiary. Hard trimming should take place while it is young so as to encourage a bushy habit.
